Chiropractic specialises in the treatment of the nervous system and identifying causes of nervous system dysfunction. The nervous system can be harmed by many processes which include physical trauma e.g. car accidents, sporting injuries, gardening, work etc., poor nutrition e.g. lack of minerals such as magnesium,lack of vitamins,, lifestyle choices e.g. lack of regular excerise,poor posture, stress e.g. work or family stress.

As a Chiropractor I look at all these situations as well as examining the spine and limbs for what Chiropractors call the subluxation, the subluxation is where a joint whether it be in the spine between the vertebrae or in the limbs has mechanically locked up often causing pain but sometimes not and often muscle tightness and spasm. When the joints lock they cause nerve fibres to become over excited which can cause pain, numbness, tingling in various parts of the body and may also cause organ problems such as indigestion, PMS, asthma, headaches.

At the initial consultation an extensive case history is taken, a physical examination is performed and the results are discussed. Treatment typically involves muscle work such as massage / ultrasound / stretching, Chiropractic adjustments to the subluxated joints either manually or mechanically assisted techniques and home advise. Dietary changes and supplements may also be suggested.

X-rays may be ordered from an x-ray clinic were clinically indicated, and the cost is usually covered by Medicare.
